In my Voice Studio, I teach all genres of music to singers from middle school age and up! During your lessons, we will work on building healthy and efficient vocal technique, musicianship skills (basic theory, ear-training, and sight-singing), acting skills, building well-rounded repertoire, performance and audition skills, memorization techniques, and basic knowledge of composers, singers, and musical works.
How it works!
You can sign up for lessons by going to the "SIGN UP for Lessons" page and completing the required information.
Each new student is assessed a one-time, non-refundable Registration Fee of $25.
You may reserve a set weekly time-slot for lessons, or you can schedule your lesson each week according to your schedule. (Please note all lessons times are first come-first served.)
What lesson length should I choose?
45-minutes: All singing students will benefit greatly from 45-minute lessons. In a 45-minute lesson, we work on singing technique and repertoire, but we also have time to work on music-reading skills and bringing acting skills into your performances and auditions. 45-minutes also allows us to work on more than one song at a time. I recommend 45 minutes for most singers.
30-minutes: 30-minute lessons are best suited for young beginning singers (new middle school students). In 30-minute lessons, we focus on developing your child's young singing voice and music skills using developmentally appropriate materials.
60-minutes: 60-minute lessons are reserved for advanced singers. These lessons are recommended for high school juniors and seniors who are intending to major in music or musical theater, recent college music graduates, and professional and amateur performers.
What should I expect to do in lessons?
Your first lesson will be about "getting-to-know you" (and your voice). I will listen to you sing, check your range, your tonal memory, and other skills. We will discuss your goals and interests.
In subsequent lessons, we will spend the first part of your lesson working on technique-building exercises and working on sight-singing and theory. The remainder of your lesson will consist of working on repertoire. At the end of your lesson, we will make sure you know what to work on in your practice during the week.
I recommend students bring a recording device (phone, iPad, etc.) to lessons and record all vocalises for daily practice. Your progress is directly related to your practice habits.
